From employment point of view the study of nursery and kindergarten job placements cannot be bypassed, as it is an important factor for helping parents with small children, especially women for reintegrating into the labor market. For them it is important to know whether there are or aren’t any institutions or public services for toddlers or small children for day-to-day supervision provided. Thus, the availability of child care institutions indirectly contributes to the number of people in the labor market, and as a result the employment level of that area may increase.
In Hajdú-Bihar county, there were nurseries in 27 settlements in 2017 and family nursery in 7 settlements. The nurseries are available for children from age 0 to 3 years and they are working at 98% capacity. In the family nurseries there is room for 300 small children. Due to high occupancy rate, many settlements are developing currently or planning to develop nursery services. Kindergarten services were provided in 202 different locations in the county in 2017 with overall capacity of 21.400 places.
